Monster Musings

Books, coffee, trails, and the occasional weekend project.

Re-reading old favorites

Notes

There is something reassuring about picking up a book you already know the ending to. The tension is gone, so you notice the smaller things instead: a line of dialogue you glossed over, the way a chapter is paced. Lately I have been working back through a shelf I had not touched in years, one slow evening at a time.

A better pour-over

Coffee

Switched to weighing the water instead of eyeballing it and the difference was immediate. Same beans, same grinder, but suddenly consistent. Funny how the small, boring change is usually the one that matters.

Morning trail, off season

Outdoors

Got out early enough that the parking lot was empty. Cool air, quiet path, nobody else around for the first mile. Worth the earlier alarm every single time.
