The settings below will help ensure that your Roku is playing media is being streamed in the highest possible quality, while also requiring the least amount of server power.
On the Plex home screen, click on your username in the top left hand corner.
On the “User” screen, click on “Settings”.
On the “Settings” screen, scroll down to the “Video” tab. Change the following settings to help insure direct play:
Local Quality – Original
Remote Quality – Original
Direct Play – Auto
The other settings can be left on their default values.
If you have limited bandwidth, you can lower the “Local Quality” and “Remote Quality” settings a step at a time until everything is playing smoothly. But for most people, “Original” should work perfectly.
